EARTH STEWARDSHIP
SUMMER, 2023
WWOOF Thailand
For the summer of 2023, I volunteered on an organic farm in Khao Sok National Park, Thailand to learn hands on skills for sustainable farming, off-the-grid living, and eco-conservation. This experience fueled my desire to live a purposeful life that helped connect deisgn with nature. I continue to learn from a global perspective how to incorporate smart, eco-concious, and healthy aspects into the projects I tackle. Its not always easy, but taking this time to live off the land and get my hands dirty was extremely empowering and gives me a unique outlook on design solutions.
SPRING, 2022
scadback40
At the SCAD garden growing food for the community of Savannah, I performed crop production duties such as planting, fertilizing, and many other harvest and post-harvest activities. I additionally recruited volunteers for events and important projects. Through this experience I gathered more knowledge on local produce production to alleviate food insecurity and showed me the importance of community involvement. Growing food has increased my passion for designing new growing techniques and creating projects that improve the health and wellness of others.
